President Jim Tressel<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h6>

President of Youngstown State University<\/span><\/em><\/h4>

Mr. Tressel has been the president of Youngstown State University for four years. He has been a leader in numerous campus innovation and improvement projects \u2013 including those involved with additive manufacturing. <\/span><\/p>

He has talked about establishing relations with the Mahoning Valley Innovation and Commercialization Center on campus. The center would be an entrepreneurial hub that includes educational and research space, as well as state-of-the-art manufacturing laboratories, connecting creative minds with advanced manufacturing and the regional business community.<\/span><\/p>

More recently, he attended an event in Washington D.C. titled \u201cIs Our American Workforce Ready for 3D Print Manufacturing?\u201d. It was hosted by the\u00a0House Manufacturing Caucus, the Center for Public Policy Innovation and HP Inc. Tressel joined other panelists in raising awareness of the importance of investing in 3D printing and preparing the American workforce to adopt additive manufacturing. <\/span><\/p>

Dr. Eric MacDonald\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h6>

Professor and Friedman Chair<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/h4>

\"\"<\/span><\/p>

Eric MacDonald, Ph.D., is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering with a joint appointment in the Manufacturing program, and is the Friedman Chair for Manufacturing at Youngstown State University.<\/span>Dr. MacDonald received his B.S. (1992), M.S. (1997) and Ph.D. (2002) degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked in industry for 12 years at IBM and Motorola, and subsequently co-founded a start-up \u2014 Pleiades Technologies, Inc., which was acquired by Magma Inc. (San Jose, CA). Dr. MacDonald spent 2003 to 2016 at the University of Texas at El Paso as the associate director of the W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation and held faculty fellowships at NASA\u2019s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, SPAWAR Navy Research (San Diego) and a State Department Fulbright Fellowship in South America.<\/span><\/p>

His research interests include 3D printed multi-functional applications and closed-loop control in additive manufacturing with instrumentation and computer vision for improved quality and yield. Recent projects include 3D printing of structures such as nano satellites with electronics in the structure (one of which was launched into Low Earth Orbit in 2013 and a replica of which is on display at the London Museum of Science).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

He has over 50 refereed publications, several patents (one of which is licensed by Sony from IBM). He is a member of ASEE, senior member of IEEE and a registered Professional Engineer in Texas.<\/span><\/p>

David Proirier is the CEO of The Poirier Group, a business consulting company located in Toronto, ON. Mr. Proirier received his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Toronto. He is a licensed Professional Engineer as well as a Professional Logistician.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

He has an extensive and versatile background from senior executive roles in the retail, general merchandise, food distribution, health and life sciences and manufacturing industry sectors.<\/span><\/p>

His areas of expertise include:\u00a0<\/span>Operational Strategy Execution, Transformative Change Initiatives, Business Transformation and Performance Improvement, Enterprise Growth Execution, Executive Team Alignment, Cross Functional and Dynamic Team Leadership, Organizational Effectiveness<\/span><\/p>

He currently serves as Chair for the Council on IISE and was awarded the \u201cMedallion Award\u201d for Exceptional Achievement, Outstanding Management Award, and Outstanding Early Career in Industry\/Business by IISE.<\/span><\/p>
